Introduction to Learning Disabilities

Course Aim: This course will provide a basic understanding of the health and social care needs of older people with learning disabilities. Learning Outcome: • To gain an understanding of the definition of learning disability • To understand the causes of Learning Disability • To be aware of the key legislation, policy and guidelines relating to Learning Disability • To understand the common types and prevalence of Learning Disability • Be aware of some of the barriers faced by people with Learning Disability Target Group: All care/support staff that work with people with learning disabilities
